Making Child Safeguarding a Priority

Hill Learning Center, in partnership with the Oak Foundation and Darkness to Light, recently completed a meaningful project focused on increasing the safety and overall well-being of children. Darkness to Light, an organization determined to end childhood abuse, worked with Hill to identify areas of opportunity where we could enhance existing policies and implement new ones.

Children need a safe learning environment to thrive. Beginning in 2019, Hill decided to revamp our efforts in this area. By working with Darkness to Light, we implemented measures such as convex mirrors in stairwells and reformed visitor procedures, while also participating in robust conversations and professional development with faculty, staff and administration.

We are continuously working to educate and improve. Our partnership with Darkness to Light gave us insight into our areas of opportunity and we are grateful for their ongoing resources that will help us continue to optimize our practices.
