Hill Learning Center Expands Reading Intervention

EducationNC (EdNC) is an independent source of news, data, and analysis about education for the people of North Carolina. The site consists of data, research, news, information, and analysis regarding the trends and challenges in North Carolina schools.

EdNC recently published an article that details the expansion of Hill Learning Center’s Reading Achievement Program (HillRAP) both as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and as a way to make it more accessible to struggling readers across the nation.

“To accelerate the reading development of students who have fallen even further behind due to COVID, quality, science-based core reading instruction must be supplemented by targeted, small-group intervention that can accurately identify and address foundational gaps,” said Beth Anderson, Executive Director of Hill Learning Center”

It’s now time for another stage of HillRAP’s growth. Without an iPad, it can be difficult for some students to access the app. Now, Hill Learning Center is determined to migrate the HillRAP app to a web-based platform to reach even more struggling readers. With help from donations from partners such as the Mebane Foundation, this initiative is projected to be complete by the summer of 2022.
