Financial Aid Matters

With just 4 short weeks remaining in our Wendy B. Speir Student Financial Aid Challenge, the response has created a ripple of excitement at Hill.

To date, we have raised $211,182 to our $250,000 goal, with just $38,813 remaining. The goal is firmly in sight, but we need your help to get us there! If you have not yet made your gift or pledge, will you take a moment to do so?

Why do we care so deeply about Student Financial Aid? Simply put, financial aid makes a real difference and can change the trajectory of a student’s life. Take ‘Steve’ for example:

Steve attended Hill during middle and high school. He had a gift for math, but struggled with reading and spelling. He was from a single parent family, raised by a mother who valued education and saw so much potential in her son. She often said that it “broke her heart” that her child didn’t love school the way she had as a child. When first considering Hill School, Steve’s mom said that she only had resources for her son to attend for perhaps one year. However, thanks to receiving student financial aid, Steve was able to remain at Hill for 5 years! Steve went on to obtaining a degree in business from NC State University, and ultimately co-founded his own company here in Durham.

Thank you for your generous support of this initiative. The more we raise, the more support we can provide to students like Steve.

We also look forward to seeing you at the 5th Annual Hill Mile on Sunday, April 28th, with all proceeds going toward meeting the $250,000 Wendy B. Speir Student Financial Aid Challenge!
