Last fall, the Friday Institute at NC State University partnered with Hill to better understand how high-poverty public schools are integrating Hill Reading Achievement Program (HillRAP) into their literacy frameworks. They visited with principals, HillRAP teachers and students in schools from East Durham to Edgecombe to learn about how they use HillRAP. We learned a lot about schools’ varied approaches for ensuring HillRAP fits within their context and meets their greatest needs. From these visits, the Friday Institute identified the school factors and conditions that impact HillRAP’s success in high-poverty schools and made recommendations that will serve as valuable guidance for schools looking to implement HillRAP.
