“The Hill Center helped me learn to love school. In fact, so much so that I just could not stop pursuing my education,” says Jenna Osborn, PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Jenna began attending Hill in fourth grade and graduated from Chapel Hill High School and Hill in 2009. She went on to Appalachian State University where she received a Bachelors of Science in Applied Physics with a Minor in Chemistry, graduating the top of her class with Summa Cum Laude Honors. From there Jenna went on to earn her Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. She did her PhD at George Washington University and research at the Food and Drug Administration.
Jenna is married to Brad Conrad and is a proud “dog mom” of two rescues, Kodak, a Newfoundland mix, and Sonar, a Lab mix. Jenna and Brad live in University Park, Maryland. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the FDA working on COVID-19 research.
Reflecting on her experience as a Hill student, Jenna says, “I still use all of the skills that I was taught during my time at the Hill Center. Without the Hill Center’s help, I would not be in the place where I am today. The teachers and staff helped me gain the confidence to succeed beyond my time there.”
