Hill Learning Center is an independent school accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). We are also approved by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as an “alternative” school for children with learning disabilities. Faculty and staff are members of the International Dyslexia Association (formerly the Orton Dyslexia Society) as well as the Learning Disabilities Association of America. Hill Learning Center’s teacher professional development program is accredited by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) and recognized by IDA.

Association of LD Schools

Association for LD Schools

Founded in 2023, The Association of LD Schools (ALDS) is a formal community for schools that specialize in education of students with learning differences, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and executive dysfunction. With over 200 schools specializing in this type of education, ALDS aims to connect the people who make these schools as transformative as they are. Hill is a founding member of ALDS.

International Dyslexia Association

The mission of IDA continues to be the same as the mission embraced by the early Orton Society pioneers – seeking to study and treat dyslexia for the benefit of those with dyslexia and their families.

International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council

The International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC), a 501(c)(3) organization, accredits quality Multisensory Structured Language Education (MSLE) training courses.

Since 1963, LDA has provided support to people with learning disabilities, their parents, teachers and other professionals with cutting edge information on learning disabilities, practical solutions, and a comprehensive network of resources.

The Learning Disabilities Association of North Carolina (LDANC) promotes awareness of the multifaceted nature of learning disabilities. We support equitable opportunities for people with learning disabilities to participate in life’s experiences. LDANC seeks to accomplish this through education, support, advocacy, collaboration and the encouragement of ongoing research.
